Bespoke Doorset Solution for State-of-the-Art Chemotherapy Unit

  • Sector Healthcare
  • Location: Belfast
  • Architect: Whittaker & Watt
  • Contractor: H & J O'Boyle

Project Overview

We worked closely with main contractors H & J O’ Boyle and architects Whittaker & Watt on this time-critical healthcare project. The project brief was to deliver a state-of-the-art Chemotherapy Unit with Macmillan Cancer Support and the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust at the centre of the existing Ulster Hospital development in Belfast that would also house a Macmillan Information and Support Centre to provide the latest Chemotherapy and other Support Services to patients and families across the country.

We supplied a full timber doorset solution along with our parent company KCC Group who supplied the ironmongery. The doors were manufactured bespoke to fit within anti-bacterial ppc frames and suit site specific openings, finished in a laminate that provides a smooth and easily cleaned surface making it an ideal solution for health environments such as this.

KCC Group were specified to supply a full ironmongery solution and we worked closely with them to prepare the doorsets for integrated ironmongery. KCC also supplied a combination of glazed screens, glazed doors at the ends of corridors and glazed fire screens to maximise the flow of light throughout the building and to aid in wayfinding.
