Project Overview

Linen Mills Game of Thrones Studio Tour is the only permanently dedicated museum to the iconic TV series Game of Thrones and welcomes tourists from all over the world to relive key moments and places from the popular show. Our parent company KCC Group were heavily involved in the main entrance design and automation and worked closely with ourselves to automate the internal doorsets as required also, some of which were linked into the exhibition software and are timed specifically to open on cue as part of a dramatic introduction to the rest of the exhibition spaces. Throughout the Front-of-house areas we created a dark walnut high performance timber doorset with appropriate fire rating and performance characteristics. The “wow doors” as they were coined were used in the main exhibition area in a fully black finish with a high acoustic rating for optimal sound-proofing. Another key feature of the interior doorsets used throughout the back-of-house areas was the concealed integration into the surrounding walls. These fire-rated, acoustic doors were designed to sit almost invisibly into the dark walls to provide the required safety functions of fire protection and compartmentation in the event of an emergency but to blend seamlessly into the background at all other times, forming part of the walls framing the guest’s journey through the exhibition.
